The Rising Stars spend the week in workshops, reading sessions, and ensemble rehearsals, culminating in live performances in the Music Room with their mentors. This mentoring program, named in honor of Judy Evnin, Caramoor’s Chairman Emerita, has identified some of the finest musicians of the next generation and helped them navigate the threshold from their student years into the early stages of a professional career. The Evnin Rising Stars mentoring program relies, in part, on special gifts to Caramoor’s Endowment and Annual Fund from donors interested in identifying and developing promising classical musicians. Learn increasingly well-nigh the Evnin Rising Stars we have mentored in the past.   Schwab Vocal Rising StarsOriginativeDirector Steven Blier selects four promising singers for a week long Caramoor residency that includes daily coaching, rehearsals, and workshops, culminating in a concert in the Music Room. Assisted by Michael Barrett and ripened in conjunction with the New York Festival of Song, this program focuses on art song interpretation and has a lasting impact on the growth, development, and professional practices of young artists. Since its inception in 2009, the Schwab Vocal Rising Stars have received vital funding from the Terrance W. Schwab Endowment Fund for Young Vocal Artists. Created in memory of former Caramoor Trustee Terrance W. Schwab by his family, the fund was established to nurture and support the originative minutiae and careers of young vocalists. Learn increasingly well-nigh the Schwab Vocal Rising Stars we have mentored in the past.   Ernst Stiefel String Quartet-in-Residence One extremely promising string quartet is chosen each year to well-constructed a year-long residency at Caramoor. The quartet-in-residence lends their time and talents to Caramoor’s Student Strings program in the secondary schools with a classroom-based program of concerts, conversations, and performance clinics. The Stiefel Quartet-in-Residence performs at Caramoor throughout their residency, enabling the public to wits these exciting, young players in an intimate setting. The Ernst Stiefel String Quartet-in-Residence mentoring program is supported, in part, by major endowment gifts from the Ernst C. Stiefel Foundation. The success of this mentoring program relies on the generosity of donors interested in furthering the careers of promising chamber quartets.
